Liberated Artist Collective
LAC MISSION STATEMENT
The Liberated-Artist-Collective is a network of diverse artists dedicated to fostering community events, artistic projects, and education on both local and global scales. The collective challenges the worsening trends of artistic isolation and itemization prevalent in the current corporatist climate, instead promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration and collective action. Activities include events, performances, projects, and educational initiatives. Goals include establishing an international presence for artists, reducing costs through shared resources, and breaking traditional barriers with a unified social-network. The collective utilizes members' existing assets, connections, data, talents and abilities to help even the playing-field against the corporate-art establishment, providing a supportive structure for effective collaboration and growth.
As an example. take 20 diverse artists, united on a mission to amplify their global influence. With strategic consolidation of their own resources and the leveraging of their own personal connections, a multitude of new opportunities suddenly emerge for everyone, such as pursuing more ambitious artistic goals, establishing new professional and academic connections, and accessing previously unavailable resources across the network.
Critical to this initiative is the employment of effective information management. Through systematic processing of shared data, the concept of "shared utilities" emerge. Each artist benefits from collective data analysis, fostering myriad collaborative initiatives. For instance, shared data may reveal that NYC hosts concurrent dance, music, and art festivals in June, while school is still in session. This provides a golden opportunity for the collective to offer master classes at accessible institutions, aligning seamlessly with local performances, and collaborative projects that may take place.
In this example, traveling artists to NYC gain advantages, including the use of locally provided equipment and potential lodging from fellow members, not to mention access to new professional and artistic scenes. Collaboration and cross-pollination among local and visiting artists foster organic growth of networks and audiences across various artistic domains.
On marketing, the collective adopts a proactive approach, advertising well in advance, engaging local communities, and strategically maximizing their impact in said location. Professionally recorded performances become valuable assets for individual artists. Then, off to the next location to continue the process.
Recognizing that marginalized communities often lack deserved recognition and respect for their contributions, despite them usually being at the cutting-edge, LAC actively seeks to foster academic relationships as a cornerstone policy. These strategic partnerships help to "validate" marginalized artists, reshaping antiquated perceptions while providing distinctive advantages on the professional stage, while spreading specialized knowledge to new communities.
